German students abroad: Total

Around 137,700 Germans studied abroad in 2021. The data is based on a survey by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) in over 40 important host countries of German students, supplemented by UNESCO and Eurostat data on other host countries in which at least 125 German students were registered in the current year. Up to ten years can be selected for display in the graph using the drop-down menu.
