German students abroad by host country

Over three quarters of all German students abroad spend time in Western European countries. The five most popular host countries are Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the USA. The data is based on a survey by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) in over 40 important host countries of German students, supplemented by UNESCO and Eurostat data on other host countries in which at least 125 German students were registered in the current year. Using the drop-down menu, up to ten host countries of German students can be selected for display in the chart.
